DIVISIONS INVOLVED
The Wilden fuel management project covered 3 to 9 hectares, with the main goal of lowering wildfire risk by thinning out overstory and understory trees. Workers manually cut down selected trees and cleared out thick brush that had built up over time. This helped create a more fire-resistant landscape while still keeping the forest ecosystem healthy.
To handle the fallen trees and branches, we used a 6″ tracked chipper to turn them into wood chips. These chips were spread across the ground as mulch, which not only cut down on the fire hazard but also boosted soil health. The mulch helped the ground retain moisture, reduced erosion, and supported the growth of native plants. In the end, the project improved both fire safety and the overall health of the forest.
