DIVISION INVOLVED

Wildfire

The prescribed area covered 6.4 hectares, where trees were removed using a mix of mechanical methods like a harvester and forwarder, along with manual removal of the understory. To handle the debris, an industrial grinder was used to grind up the trees and part of the understory, while a 6-inch tracked chipper took care of chipping and spreading the rest of the understory and prunings. Most of the wood chips were sent to the City Landfill and repurposed into OgoGrow, a nutrient-rich compost for gardens. This approach kept waste to a minimum while making sure the byproducts had a useful, sustainable purpose.
