Cabin completed a 60 ha Wildfire Prevention Prescription for BC Parks as part of an ecosystem-based habitat restoration project. The project objectives were to balance wildfire risk reduction objectives with ecosystem restoration in the Coastal Douglas-fir zone (CDFmm). Cabin prescribed the removal of ingress Shore pine to mitigate high-risk fuel loads and to restore the endangered Garry oak meadow habitats. Cabin provided BC Parks with a detailed and operationally focused prescription that is ready to be implemented. To assist with planning, Cabin provided UAV orthomosaic imagery of the park. Additionally, we provided innovative recommendations on how to reintroduce fire into the ecosystem.
