In 2024, Cabin conducted an Archaeological Overview Assessment (AOA) on behalf of the Regional District of the Central Okanagan (RDCO) for their proposed salvage logging within Rose Valley Regional Park in West Kelowna. Desk-based review of the proposed 232.98 ha salvage logging project identified 47.00 ha of lands which were predicted to have archaeological potential and approximately 20.57 ha of forested lands with potential for Culturally Modified Trees. Avoidance of these locations was the primary recommendation, with the additional recommendation of a preliminary field reconnaissance (PFR) of timber-harvesting areas if avoidance was not feasible.

This project reflects:
(a) Cabin’s commitment to working closely with our clients and interested First Nations and
(b) our capacity to conduct archaeological overview assessment projects in a timely fashion and that our staff have the expertise to prepare effective management solutions.
