Wilden Fuel Management Implementation

Wilden Fuel Management Implementation

Kelowna
2018-2019

This Fuel Management Implementation project covered an area of 3-9 hectares. The main objective of this project was to remove overstory and understory trees manually to reduce the risk of wildfires. To accomplish this, workers selectively cut down trees and remove the brush that had accumulated over time. The project utilized a 6″ tracked chipper to shred the felled trees and branches into wood chips, which were then spread out on the ground to act as mulch. This process not only helped to reduce the fuel load and fire hazard in the area but also improved soil health by increasing ground cover.
