Tower Ranch Fuel Management Prescription and Implementation

Under the UBCM SWPI program, collected field data, laid out and created prescription for the park inclusive of fire suppression access planning. The Tower Ranch FMP was consistent with the objectives of the Okanagan Shuswap Land and Resource Management Plan and City of Kelowna Community Wildfire Protection Plan. The objectives of this prescription include; increasing public safety within and around the surrounding communities, enhancing the ability of firefighters to protect the public and private property at risk, and minimize negative impacts and where possible enhance values of the treated stand such as recreation and cultural heritage. We did the prescription and also the implementation which included thinning-from-below, chipping and pruning.
